Ignorance about disabilities

I have a new blog to blog about. So I hope nobody minds me blogging today about this particular blog I've had blogging on my mind for quite some time now. Ok, so Here's my second blog!
This one is about people on the street, cars, bikes, walking, whatever. I'll wave hi to them to be nice, and MOST though not all, will totally ignore me as if I'm not even there. That is my NUMBER ONE BLOG about being a disabled American. SO I Have a huge head?? GET OVER IT WILL YOU??? I am totally sick and tired, also of people saying things like "Oh I'm sorry to hear that" when I write on the internet of my disability. As if I'm DYING of it or some such garbage. I AM NOT DYING. I'm not even CLOSE to dying! 49 years old and in a wheelchair is NOT the end of my life. I assure you all. So just be friendly to me and get over it if I tell you things that you don't want to hear. OR Just let me know you DONT WANT TO HEAR it. And I will clam up, end of subject. I had no idea so many people were so hard headed about hearing about mine or any other problems just because I am different than you or someone else. So just let's get along, ok? I'm HUMAN just like you are. And I deserve as much respect as you do. Thank you very much.

My impending hospital stay

Well Im' writing this so that i can get some sleep at night!
You see, I'm having surgery, pretty major I guess. Being that I'll be in for an entire 6 weeks or LONGER, Maybe up to 8 weeks!!!!! I'm nervous about it so I figured I'd pen my thoughts about it.
I've had surgery in the same area before. In fact about 5 years ago! It seems that surgery only LASTED 5 years. Hence, more surgery will probably come in the future always. I'm a couch potato and that doesnt' help one bit. Plus the fact that I'm paralyzed from the waist down, that also does not help, because I do not feel when my body is becoming worn out from sitting so long. AT LEAST below the waist. Above the waist I am 100 percent fine....Ok I was born with spina bifida, but that is besides the point! HA HA HA. Yes I have a good attitude about that. I think what shines forth from me about how I feel about me, has an effect on the people I meet on a day to day, week to week, or month to month basis.

Last Day Before Surgery! OH MY GOSH.......
This is the last day before surgery. Wednesday, July 8th 2004. Tomorrow should be a pretty good day for travellng.. I'm supposed to be driven by my parents, as I cannot drive, even though i'm 49 years old! Be that as it may. I'm going, and nobody is going to stop me! HA HA HA.. Wild HORSES couldn't stop me!.......Ok Maybe ONE.....HA HA HA. I'm bringing lots of things with me little by little (mom and dad will do this), so that I have things to do. I will have books and magazines, Puzzle book, paper and watercolors for perhaps some painting if I can get around to it, my bible to read, music galore, maybe will bring a couple movies to watch on mom's laptop that has a dvd player in it. It's a DELL! Oh and a few games too! Oh yeah and a Deck of cards! My hearing aid is essential, as I barely can hear at all in my left ear since about.....6 years ago i think.....it's called conductive hearing loss, the middle ear is preventing me from hearing properly, Oh yes, I'm getting a small dvd player so that i can play the music on that. Might be less wear and tear on mom's computer, as I don't want to ruin her laptop. I've already sent my vacation response on my emails, so that nobody who sent me email today will be able to get thru. I need to get my rest started early so that I can get used to no computer for around a week, until I get around to going to the LTACH unit which is like a nursing home but much more cushy.......ummmmm.....ok strike that LOL...Well that's my blogging for today. If at all possible I will try to get online at the nursing home and tell you all (one person who reads these so far LOL).....about my nurses....mmmmmmmmmmmmm.........ok ttyl! Off I go to the wonderful wizard of oz!
